Being responsible and
business opportunities
The current recession has led many businesses to drop
corporate responsibility down their agenda. At Grass
Roots we continue to take the opposite view. There has
been no let up in the number of tenders that ask for
evidence of responsible business practices. Neither have
we lost our appetite for looking at how we can turn the
responsibility agenda to our commercial advantage.
Here are the highlights from the last 12 months:
·
We launched the first promotional green currency
Carboncreditz. Consumers can earn creditz through
online shopping and spend them on energy efficient
goods and services.
·
We launched Corporateoffset.com giving businesses
the chance to not only offset their carbon emissions,
but to engage their employees in how this is done.
In short, employees choose the projects that the
offset money is invested in.
·
5 million energy efficient lightbulbs were distributed by
Grass Roots in a partnership with E.ON and as part of
that initiative £208,000 has been donated to charity.
·
We launched a green e-learning progamme that
gives businesses the opportunity to educate their
workforce in the contribution they as individuals can
make, to protecting our environment.
·
Our diversity awareness training programmes "Respect
for People" and "Welcoming Disabled People" continue
to be market leaders. In the last year 67,898 of our
clients' employees have undertaken these courses.
·
We introduced Forest Stewardship Council paper for
the secure printing of our bonusbond Gift Voucher.
·
Since March 2009 over 32,000 `Showersmart'
attachments were distributed free by Grass Roots to
households that wanted to reduce the consumption
of energy used by non-electrical showers.
