Grass Roots rises to 35 in the Sunday Times list of top 100 companies to work for

8 March 2010

For the fourth year in succession, business services company, Grass Roots, has been included in the Sunday Times list of 100 best companies to work for in the U.K. Headquartered in Tring, the firm, which provides marketing, research and HR services for an array of blue chip client companies, has moved thirteen places up the table to no. 35, following the results of a confidential questionnaire, sent by research agency Best Companies, directly to its employees.

230,000 employees from 964 companies across a wide variety of sectors completed the 2010 survey.  The list aims to recognise businesses for their skill, energy and dedication to making employment a worthwhile experience.  The process involves employees scoring their own organisation on a range of factors such as Leadership, My Company, My Team and Well Being.

Employees are proud to work for the company (82% positive), love the firm (78%) and think it makes a positive difference to the world we live in (75%).  The company’s capacity for ‘Giving Something Back’ is featured, yet again, as a major strength. Chairman David Evans MBE and Managing Director Andy Lister are highly regarded for their leadership and the strong moral principles on which they and their teams run the business.

“Grass Roots has cultivated a very special culture and it is something that I haven’t experienced anywhere else I’ve worked” says one employee. “It’s a friendly and fun company with a real sense of family, identity and pride. We have a clear vision of success and always pull together to achieve it”.

For Evans, this latest accolade is recognition for a consistency of approach: “I’ve always felt that if you communicate properly, educate and measure performance, people will respond. If people do well, and you reward and recognise them, you will get the best out of them. That’s what I’ve been pursuing for 30 years”.

Grass Roots celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and true to his community spirited philosophy, Evans is staging a Party in the Park musical extravaganza in Tring on Saturday May 15. All the proceeds from the event will go to local schools, sports clubs and the Court Theatre.
